About

Hello there.

I am an illustrator/designer/academic, living and working in Cardiff, Wales.

My practice ranges from painting, illustration, murals, and animation to graphic design for books, magazines and web.

I have enjoyed working as both a lecturer and freelance creative for over 20 years, as well as a location painter.

As an illustrator, I am mesmerised by the medium of image making’s ability to transcend language and communicate beyond the limits of words. I am awed how visual narrative and good design have the means to convey subtle truths about the world around us and help shape a better place to live. Illustration is a powerful and underestimated cultural art form.

As a location painter my goal is to capture a sense of place using oil on card, recording local colour, light and atmosphere. With no time for preliminary drawing, oil studies are usually complete within an hour or 2 hour sittings as shadows and light change so rapidly.
